How to play
-
1Choose a game
Daily: five colors, one at a time, once a day. Swatch Match: a whole palette, as often as you like.
-
2Target on top
The target sits above your color, which starts out random.
-
3Slide to match
Move the hue, saturation, and lightness sliders until they match, then lock it in.
Get the hue first
Hue is the biggest jump in what you see. Once it’s right, fine-tune saturation and lightness.
Squint
Squinting blurs detail and makes lightness much easier to compare.
Watch the edge
Where target and yours meet, small differences in warmth and brightness stand out.
How is it scored?
With Delta E (CIEDE2000), the standard measure of how different two colors look to people. Under 1 is invisible, 2–3 is a close match, and over 10 is clearly different. Each color scores up to 100.
Daily vs. Swatch Match
Daily gives everyone the same five colors, one at a time, once a day, with a result you can share. Swatch Match gives you a whole five-color palette at once: pick any swatch and tune it. Play it as often as you like.
