How to play

  1. 1Pick your grid

Easy is 5×5, Medium 8×8, Hard 10×10. Expert starts empty: you place every tile yourself.

  2. 2Sort every row

Each row is one color. Drag a tile, or tap it and then tap where it goes, until the row runs lightest to darkest.

  3. 3Check your rows

Press Check. Finished rows lock into a gradient. You have a few checks, and the clock starts on your first move.

Anchor the ends

Find the lightest and darkest tiles first, then work inward.

Squint

Blurring your vision hides hue and makes lightness easier to compare.

Compare neighbors

Small differences are easiest to see side by side, not across the whole row.

What does Color Grid train?

Your eye for value: how light or dark a color is, apart from its hue. Value decides whether text is readable and whether a design still works in grayscale. More in What is color value?

Is it the same puzzle for everyone?

Yes. There’s a new numbered grid every day at each level. Your streak, best times, and results are saved in this browser: press Stats to see them.
