Color blindness
Seeing some colors differently or less distinctly than most people; red-green types are the most common.
Also called color vision deficiency, CVD, colorblind, color-blind, protanopia, deuteranopia, tritanopia
Color vision deficiency affects about 1 in 12 men and 1 in 200 women. The most common types make reds and greens hard to tell apart (protanopia and deuteranopia); tritanopia affects blues and yellows.
Designs stay readable when they use lightness contrast, labels and icons, not color alone. Our color pages show how any color looks with each type.
